9 Day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking , Big 5 Safari

On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred for overnight at the booked accommodation. You will be briefed about the 9 day gorilla, chimpanzee trekking, big 5 safari to ensure that every thing is in place for a successful tour.

On this day, you will enjoy your breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe OR Kampala set off for Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. I really advise that you make this stop over since it will give you the complete feel of the “big five” in Uganda. With an en-route lunch, you shall make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to track the endangered southern white rhinos before continuing to Murchison.

Ziwa rhino sanctuary is home and the breeding place  to the endangered southern white rhinos for their re introduction into the wild where they existed before being wiped out in the 1980s.

It is the only place where they can be spotted in the wild. Then proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. Later visit the magnificent Murchison Falls. Marvel at the breathtaking views and the thunderous sound of the falls as they squeeze through the narrow gorge, cascading into the pool below.

The driver/guide will then transfer you to your lodge for dinner and overnight on 9 Day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking, Big 5 Safari.

Start your day early at 6 am with coffee and a snack, preparing for a game drive safari in Murchison Falls National Park. Spot nocturnal creatures and predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas before they retreat. Capture sightings of antelopes, giraffes, buffaloes, and hippos as you explore. Nubian Giraffes are a highlight. After breakfast, continue the drive until midday, then return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy a 3-hour boat cruise along the Nile River, starting from Paraa and cruising upstream towards the falls. Observe Nile crocodiles, hippos, and bird species along the riverbanks. Keep an eye out for elephants and buffaloes. Return to your lodge for a restful overnight stay, cherishing the day’s experiences on 9 Day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking, Big 5 Safari.

After your breakfast, drive to Kibale Fores National Park for chimpanzee tracking experience. On your way to to Kibale National Park, you will enjoy the spectacular views of tea estates, several forests where olive baboons are parading alongside the roads and shadow of thee legendary Rwenzori Mountain that forms a mystic backdrop to the beautiful volcanic landscape with en route lunch.

After your lunch, You will have an opportunity to go for a community walk in Bigodi for experiences like African homesteads, Banana bonga products, chimpanzee robusta coffee experience, traditional healers/doctors, handcraft making (ladies weaving baskets and cultural dances), cultural weddings, iron smith, and milking experiences. Transfer to the booked lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Safari lodge: Kibale Forest Lodge

Wake up and prepare for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest. Enjoy your breakfast and have your packed lunch with you. Drive to Kanayanchu Information Center for briefing about chimpanzee tracking rules. 

Start your journey with the walk to the forest to search for the Chimpanzees. Kibale forest is home to over 13 primate species including black and white colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys. Walk takes about 1 hour to 4 hours depending on where the trackers find the chimpanzees. Once you locate them spends a maximum of an hour taking photos, learning about their social, feeding, behavior. Return to Kanyanchu to receive your tracking certificates. 

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for an Evening game drive in Kasenyi Plains. Enjoy the views for the savannah grasslands.  Look out for lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants before the night falls. Wake up in the morning and get a cup of coffee and hot breakfast. Start your day filled with energy for a morning game drive in Kasenyi plains. With over 96 mammals species, 612 bird species, Queen Elizabeth National Park offers you an opportunity to spot various wildlife species like Lions, leopards, hyenas, buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks among others. 

Enjoy the sunrise in the African savannah, drive to Kasenyi craft market to shop craft to take back home. After the game drive go for a mid morning boat ride on Kazinga Channel.

Kazinga Channel is a 40km water way that connects Lake George and Lake Edward which serves as an important role in the Ecosystem of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will spot Nile crocodiles, Monitor lizards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Water bucks, birds like pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles, African skimmers among others.

After the successful boat ride, enjoy your delicious Lunch and later transfer to Ishasha sector in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park for Dinner and overnight stay on 9 day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking Big Five Safari.

Safari Lodge: Ishasha Pride Lodge

Wake up in the morning and enjoy your breakfast and drive to Ishasha to see the tree climbing lions. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the few areas to find the tree climbing lions. This is the behavior they have adopted and carried on from generation to generation. Watching them climb the fig trees is an interesting and  memorable moment. Topis, buffaloes, elephants, are among other animals you will see on your game drive inshasha sector.

After the game drive, start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en route lunch arriving in the evening at your booked Lodge for dinner and overnight stay o the 9 day Gorilla & Chimpanzee Trekking, Big5 Safari.

Safari Lodge: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge

Meal Plan: Full Board

 Wake up early in the morning energized and ready for Gorilla tracking. Dress up in long sleeved shirt, long pants, waterproof shoes, long stocks, hat and gloves. Have breakfast and also ensure you carry with you packed lunch.

Meet your driver and drive to the visitor information center. Enjoy the pre-tracking activities like cultural performance by the community members, briefing from the park rangers about the rules of gorilla tracking and general information about gorillas. You will be grouped in groups of eight members who will be escorted by 2 armed rangers and ranger guide.

Start your journey to the forest to look for the family of Mountain Gorillas. The walk takes between 45 minutes to 4 hours depending on where they were last seen a day before. When you mean them, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour with them recording videos, taking photos and interacting with the family learning about their way of life. Receive your gorilla tracking certificate and transfer to Lake Mburo.
